Ask HN: Tips for Reducing the Number of Inboxes

Does anyone have any tips for handling the fact that there is an ever growing number of apps to check messages on. I have to check linked in, email, texts, messenger, whatsapp, signal, telegram, slack etc Everyone seems to have their preference I have loads of friends who only use messenger, some who only use signal. As a dyslexic I find it super hard to keep up and end up missing and forgetting loads of things as a result. Does everyone just deal with it? Or is there a way to centralise my communication without hiring a pa?

For years anxiety/fear-avoidance cycle defined my life. I tend to procrastinate to a such extent that causes problems in my day to day functioning, and generally my life. For example, i have to submit 2 fairly simple assignments, in 2 and 3 days respectively. If i don't pass the next 4 assignments i will fail the lab, but i keep avoiding sitting down with all of my power. I feel pure fear and a sense of "i will certainly fail if i try". The above example is with these assignments, but this type of behavior extends to everything in my life.

To some, the pursuit of workplace happiness — and its price, like an $18,000 “happiness M.B.A.” for managers — can seem like a corporate attempt to turn feelings into productivity.

Hi HN! Whilst trying to build an online community for content creators, we failed! Taking the learnings and stripping down our product to a true MVP, we now started working on "fruits", which allows creators to sell files such as ebooks, designs, checklists, music and online coachings online in less than two minutes. https://fruits.de/en It works as simple as this: 1. upload a file at "fruits" & set a price 2. you will receive your individual fruits-sales-link 3. share the link wherever your customers are (e.g. website, newsletter, social media) In addition, we also take care of the tedious office work such as invoicing and VAT collection for you, and this is completely automated. What do you think? We are looking forward to your feedback!

Spoiler: rant. I don't know what happened exactly but I'm pretty sure it's the lack of dislike stats, that now my suggestions and home page of youtube is filled, and I mean FILLEDDD!, with videos that have 4k stock clips, catchy title, but completely lacking in content. Misleading 100%. Not 1, not 2, but like 8/10 videos are now garbage stock footage with bs commentary over nothing. Example: Nasa just discovered truth about solar system!?!?!?! Science has progressed a lot in last 100 years.... So and so first discovered pluto in 1xxx Mayans used to think balbala... Some historians think.... Now scientist finally have answered.... New evidence (2014 research) shows there might be a planet ... No explanation of study because you know it actually requires some comprehension... Insert failed attempt at humor... Leave a comment on your thoughts.. =========== Same script, like 8th grade essay you didn't study for, but multiplied by 100x. We knew it was gonna ruin youtube, people told youtube it was gonna ruin it, and now exactly that happened. Click baity videos with nice stock footage that is barely relevant and half assed 'answers'.

Ask HN: We Already Pivoted

Hi everyone. My cofounder and I had been working on a startup for a little while and thought, you know, let's apply to YC. Since then we've killed that idea (for various reasons) but on Friday we got an invite to a YC interview. What should we do? The current plan is just to say at the start of the interview "Hey we pivoted to this new business, lets talk about that instead". It's quite a large pivot - basically we realised what we were working on was going to be too small and ultimately our traction dried up, so we looked at problems we'd had along the way and found something we were more passionate about and probably better suited to build. We have good (imo) traction on this new business, considering we've only been working on it for like 3 weeks. Would love some advice here! Surely we can't be the first this has happened to!

Python/Golang/C (ye, C) day-to-day job here. I am interested in either updating myself on (C++11>) or going the Rust way. I see a lot of criticism/hate of C++ lately (mostly due to the comittee), but the tooling and libraries are there for multiple areas. Rust is also interesting to me from a security standpoint. So I don't really have time to invest in both languages; any directions?
